Prodigy Pictures

Founded in 2006 by Jay Firestone, Prodigy Pictures leads the way in the production of quality film, television and cross-platform media. Prodigy is responsible for the critically-acclaimed television series Lost Girl, which electrified viewers around the world and finished airing its fifth and final season in 2016. Prodigy also produced the series Dark Matter, which aired on SYFY and Space. Dark Matter’s third and final season aired in summer of 2017.

 

Prodigy executive produced a small slate of independent films, including The Other Half, a romantic drama starring Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany; Room For Rent, featuring Stranger Things’ Brett Gelman; and Never Saw It Coming featuring Emily Hampshire, We’re All In This Together featuring Martha Burns, Alisha Newton.

 

Prodigy previously produced the original television mini-series XIII and followed that up with two seasons of XIII: The Series, produced in partnership with Europa. 

JAY FIRESTONE 

Jay Firestone

Jay Firestone heads Prodigy Pictures. Over the course of his career, Firestone has served as producer for numerous television series; including but not limited to, Mutant XRelic Hunter, La Femme NikitaQueen of SwordsGene Roddenberry's AndromedaHighlander: The RavenFX: The Series. Much of Firestone’s work has garnered industry awards, including a Gemini Award.

Through his experience as a Vice Chairman of Alliance Communications Corporation and CEO of Fireworks Entertainment, Firestone has strong business connections all around the world and is one of the leaders in official Canadian co-productions. Firestone has served on the Board of Directors for both the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and the Board of Directors of the ATAS (Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) Internaonal Council in Los Angeles 

SHANNON BUSH ANNETT

Shannon has over 25 years experience in television and film production industry.  Upon graduating from Sheridan College, with a diploma in media arts majoring in television and video production, most of her experience has been with smaller production companies. This has allowed her numerous opportunities and challenges in all facets of production. Having been with Prodigy Pictures for 7 years, she participates in the day-to-day activities including but not limited to production, distribution, and business affairs.

SIMON COSTAR

After graduating from York University in Toronto, Simon started a career in the banking sector working at a number of Canadian financial institutions. He then migrated into the Film and TV industry, working in the Finance and Business unit for a variety of enterprises including those in the Animation, Live Action, and Digital Media spaces. For the last eight years Simon has been here in the Finance wing of Prodigy Pictures.
